WaterLeak.ae respects your privacy. This Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal data when you use our website or WhatsApp desk in the United Arab Emirates, in line with the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (“UAE PDPL”) as applicable.
Data controller
The operator of WaterLeak.ae (as identified on the website and in correspondence) acts as the controller for personal data processed through this platform for coordination and dispatch purposes.
Categories of data we may collect
Identifiers and contact data: name, phone number, WhatsApp identifier, email if you provide it.
Location and property context: emirate, area, community, building or access instructions, maps or pins you send.
Case details: descriptions, photos or videos of leaks or damage that you choose to share.
Technical data: IP address, device type, browser and approximate region derived from server logs when you browse the site.
Why we use your data
To triage urgent requests, match you with suitable partners, confirm availability and relay access instructions.
To communicate with you about your case and, where relevant, to improve routing and service quality.
To comply with legal obligations and to protect our legitimate interests (e.g. fraud prevention and security), where permitted under the UAE PDPL.
Legal bases (UAE PDPL)
We rely on one or more lawful grounds recognised under the UAE PDPL, such as your consent (including when you voluntarily message us with personal details), performance of steps at your request prior to entering a service arrangement, compliance with law, or legitimate interests that are not overridden by your rights.
This Policy is not legal advice; if you need certainty for your organisation, consult qualified counsel.
Sharing with partners
To arrange a site visit or quote, we share the minimum information needed with independent field partners (technicians or companies). They process data as separate controllers or processors for their own operations and should inform you of their practices when they engage you directly.
International transfers
Primary processing occurs in the UAE. If any processor or tool stores data outside the UAE, we require appropriate safeguards consistent with the UAE PDPL where applicable.
Retention
We retain messages and coordination records only as long as necessary for the purposes above, dispute handling and legal compliance, then delete or anonymise them in line with our internal schedules unless a longer period is required by law.
Your rights
Subject to conditions in the UAE PDPL, you may have the right to request access, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to certain processing, and information about automated processing where relevant.
You may also lodge a complaint with the UAE Data Office or other competent authority as prescribed by law.
Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or alteration. No online transmission is completely risk-free.
Children
Our services target adults coordinating property emergencies. We do not knowingly collect data from children without parental authority as required by law.
Contact
For privacy requests, contact us through the same WhatsApp desk or contact channels published on this website. We will respond within reasonable timelines permitted by law.
Changes
We may update this Policy to reflect operational or legal changes. The “Last updated” date will be revised and significant changes may be highlighted on the site.
